The New Home of LEVC

UK’s first dedicated car factory to produce electric vehicles

Our new factory and headquarters at Ansty is a 37,000 square metre showcase of our commitment to the future of electric vehicles. At full production, we will be producing 36,000 units a year, and we’ve already produced over 1,000 new jobs, making a hugely positive impact on the local and wider economies. With dedicated, onsite training facilities, Ansty will not only see us build more vehicles than ever before, but also see more uniquely trained professionals contributing to our engineering and design talent pools.

As you might expect from the makers of next-generation electric vehicles, Ansty has been built and designed to be green. Roof and ground water is recycled, feeding a network of naturalised ponds that are home to numerous species, including protected rarities like the great crested newt. In fact, all water used on site is purified and recycled in this way.

We’ve invested over £250 million in creating a facility worthy of not only our legacy, but what we will be able to achieve in the near future. Here we will carry out state-of-the-art research, create pinnacles of design, and create our range of ultra-low emission vehicles.

Coventry has been the home of the iconic black cab for over 70 years, so while we never wanted to be anywhere else, our plans for the next 70 years needed to be accommodated, literally. Already the base for some of the UK’s best known vehicle manufacturers, and with a reputation for producing world-class engineers, we are proud to be able to call it home, and can now look forward to continue doing so in our very bright future.

Greg Clark, Business and Energy Secretary said

"Our iconic black cabs are famous across the world. The London Electric Vehicle Company’s impressive new factory and R&D facility showcases the innovation that makes the UK a world leader in the development of new automotive technologies."
