To further optimise the use of electrical energy, regenerative braking has been adopted, converting unwanted momentum into energy to charge the battery as the vehicle slows.
So effective in its operation, the initial braking effort is provided entirely by the regeneration system, with the mechanical wheel brakes only engaging during heavier braking periods. This both improves the range and reduces wear on brake pads, extending their lifespan.
