VN5 order books for RHD are open now (July 8th). We will be disclosing more details about European sales in the coming months. Production of LHD VN5s will start in Spring 2021.
UK RHD deliveries will begin later this year, in Q4, with LHD deliveries in Spring 2021.
Other electric vans do not have the usable range of VN5. The range-extended powertrain is the ideal solution for today’s environment. It gives van operators complete control and does not limit their use of the vehicle in any environment. They do not have to worry about range, so can visit depots far outside of the city. As soon as they enter a low emissions zone, they can switch to EV powertrain and run emissions free in a city centre. This vehicle offers the complete package for the foreseeable future.
VN5 has a first-in-sector bonded aluminium monocoque architecture. It has been designed specifically for the demands and life of a purpose-built van. Aluminium has the benefit of being 30 percent lighter than steel, is immensely strong and is resistant to corrosion.
While the body structure has been built to be incredibly resilient, LEVC has made sure that the more vulnerable components such as radiators, oil coolers, suspension parts and drive battery are protected meaning the van remains driveable even after a low speed collision. These measures also reduce the cost of repair after low speed impacts.
The body panels of the VN5 are built from a tough composite material (SMC) that is flexible and more resilient to knocks and dents than conventional steel. Each panel is painted in specially formulated paint that is highly durable helping reduce the chance of chipping or scratching.
